Bumble & bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish Spray & Surf Spray

 After Christmas I hit the sales and caved into trying a brand I've been lusting after. Each of these sprays came in a gift set accompanied by their respective shampoos and conditioners in a travel size. And each set cost about £8 less than buying the spray individually. Everyone loves a bargain right?

I'd always been a long haired girl until giving it a hammering with peroxide and then abandoning for a year including no visits to the hairdressers. It was a sad time when I went to the hairdressers and had to have 6/7" of my hair chopped off. So with this new look with short hair I needed something for my hair to give it texture and oomph. 

I'd read reviews of the Thickening Dryspun Finish Spray (£22) and wanted to give it a try myself.

Honestly, I don't know what all the fuss was about. All it does is make my hair smell nice and gives my roots something to get clogged up. My hair isn't thin but it isn't thick either so I'm guessing that maybe my hair (even being 7" shorter) was a bit too heavy for this product to do it's job. 

Now the Surf Spray (£22) I'd had a completely difference experience with. Upon spraying this, it seems to give my hair some texture and purpose. It has a strange smell that is not pleasant nor unpleasant but I can actually see why this is such a popular product among the beauty world.

I won't be repurchasing the Thickening Dryspun Finish again as it just doesn't work for me and for £22 for 120ml it isn't worth it. But I think if you're someone with thin hair then perhaps this product could work for you, I would advise trying the travel sized spray before investing though. Or you could visit your nearest Bumble and bumble counter in Boots and speak to a Sales Assistant to try the product.

I will be repurchasing the Surf Spray due to it working for my hair and it's neutral spray and I can handle it being £22 for 125ml. My old 'salt spray' from Toni and Guy just doesn't compare to Bumble and bumble.

A while back Charlotte Tilbury had an offer where if you bought one Filmstars On The Go Palette you got one free. I saw this as my opportunity to finally try the brand that's been raved about.

Rebel Without Cause comes with a rose and champagne beige colour. The texture is a cream and I like to use my fingers to apply this. It has a multi-finction in that you can use it as an eye shadow, lipstick or blush. Personally I find this really useful and this palettes colours certainly compliment my pale skin tone. 

The Spy Who Loved Me comes with a soft plum and darker champagne colour. Again the premise is the same in that it has a creme texture and has the multi-function. I like to use this colour for evening wear as it has a sort of darker feel to it. 

At £42 a palette I think this is rather on the expensive side for two colours in one palette. I like the idea of it being multi-function but with that in mind you are likely to use it faster than anything else. I would not have purchased these unless the offer was on. If you've got the extra cash and you are after multi-function then these could be a great investment. Otherwise, I would use those pennies to purchase individual products that will last you longer. 

Chanel Lait Douceur & Lotion Douceur

I've always had trouble with my skin, mainly down to neglect admittedly but that was because it was quite troublesome! My skin is what you call combination, I have an oily t-zone, some normal patches and also some dry patches. Because it covers virtually the entire spectrum of different skin types I've struggled to find products that work for me. 

Enter Chanel Lait Douceur & Lotion Douceur. 

I was a loyal fan of Origins Checks & Balances but with a job that involves 12hr shifts and constantly on my feet I needed something that would cleanse quickly so I could hurry on to bed after a late shift! Lait Douceur is part of Chanel's range aimed at Normal/Combination skin and you can apply it either with your fingers or a cotton pad onto a dry face until it becomes a silky texture and either leave or rinse if you choose. The product itself comes out as a white runny texture and goes quite a long way. Your face is left feeling fresh and clean with it's nice subtle fragrance. 

Lotion Douceur is the next part of my routine and although Lait Douceur does a fine job of cleaning my skin it's the lotion that manages to get into the difficult parts. I use the toner as a kind of rinse, instead of water and you won't believe sometimes what you manage to miss when cleansing. The skin feels nice and hydrated and not dry at all after use and also has a fragrance similar to that of the cleanser.

The only problem with these products are the price. At a hefty £30 each the Lait Douceur is 150ml and the Lotion Douceur is 200ml. A little does go a long way so think of these as a long term investment into your skin care. Personally, with the results I'm getting I would definitely repurchase these when they run out.
